You know, D and I went ahead and closed our savings account with Huntington (mostly cuz this bank sucks, and the less money we need to have in there, the better). We're still debating whether or not to switch to another bank (I think we will), because the amount of surprises is neverending with these bastards.
Ok.. this might be standard policy at all banks, but why the hell do you get charged money every time you use your Visa or MC-check card as a debit card? It is less of a hassle to enter a pin at a grocery store than it is to have the cashier not only ask you to drag out your ID card, but to then sign a credit slip for your purchase? It's convenient to swipe your card, enter a pin, and be done with it. Hell.. you can get cash back using it as a debit card, which you can't do elsewhere, where you can only use it as a "credit" card! But banks (most certainly this one) charge up the ass every time you are given the option to use your card as a debit card, and then use that option. I think that's serious bullshit. You're not charged to take money out of their own atms, so why the fuck are you charged at a grocery store for more or less doing the same thing?
I mean.. you expect to get charged up to $2.00 by both your bank and an off bank's atm machine for making a withdrawl, but most people only use those machines if they absolutely have to. But who thinks they're being charged at the grocery store? People shop there all the time, and don't give a second thought to the fact they're spending additional money every time they enter a pin.
Anyway, this whole rant is because yesterday we checked our account balance online and saw some rediculously fucked up charge on there.. "POS PIN FEE" or some crap. Its' certainly nice to know banks can't be upfront with their customers about where their money will be going when they first open an account.
BTW.. I just called WAMU (a bank I'm missing more and more each day!) to find out how much they charge for POS transactions.. NADA. Yeah, didn't think they did. (And after calling a few more banks, they don't do this either. Ok.. this is pissing me off). I think the problem is that Hungtington's "free" checking means "we rip you off" checking. Reminds me of B of A, actually. LOL I was never fond of Bank of America. I just have never had so many bank problems before, it boggles my mind every time I learn some new fucked up practice of this one.
