1:40 am.. Lauren woke up about an hour ago, crying. She's been running a low-grade fever since yesterday afternoon, so it was even more important than usual to go in and check on her. Poor thing was burning up! I gave her some milk, some Tylenol, and a cool bath to bring down her body temp. The thermometer read 101.4 before she went to bed earlier in the evening, and it was a little below that just a while ago. She really doesn't have any "cold" symptoms.. although when she woke up, her nose was slightly runny (possibly from the crying?). Her appetite has been fine, she's generally well hydrated (she's always got a sippy cup of water or diluted juice- tonight I made sure she had lots of water), and she's been pretty active despite the fever. Just cranky and really hot to the touch. I haven't called the dr yet, because her temps have been taken rectally.. meaning her temperature is about a degree less than what I'm reading, so for right now it doesn't seem too serious. But if this keeps up, I definately will. I hate feeling helpless, though. She hasn't had more than 2 colds in her nearly 16 months of life, so I almost feel like a new mom dealing with this.
