Woke up this morning a serious case of cramps. David was kind enough to get me a heating pad and some Tylenol, and then get up with the kids. I think I was in bed (curled up in the fetal position) until about 10:30 or so, when I heard Matthew being his crouchy little self.
Yesterday was just the perfect weather- in the mid 40's, but blustery as hell! Lauren and I took a trip back to Giant Eagle (hoping to have a better experience this time around), where we bought Halloween cookie cutters and some pumpkins- mini ones for her to paint, and a big one for David to carve. Then I made cookies when we got home. MMM. Nothing like biting the heads off baked witches, cats, ghosts, pumpkins, and even some moons. I just iced them, and put them in the fridge to set.
Not sure if anyone remembers that right before David quit his last job, he dropped us from his health insurance (which was costing him $400 a month). I signed up for Anthem- Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and was happy that it was costing us about 1/2 what we'd been paying til then. So Matthew went in for his 1 yr visit. I just got a statement from Anthem telling us that they only covered about $48 of that visit. We paid a $25 co-pay, and yet we still owe (the Pediatrician) almost $240!! I just about choked when I saw that. What the hell are we paying $200/mo in insurance for?! Come to find out that since each of us on the plan (Lauren, Matthew, and myself) have $2,500 deductables to meet, that means that we'll be paying most of our visits out of pocket into the forseable future.
So we're dumping the insurance and going without until David gets a new job (the one he has now doesn't offer medical). This blows for a few reasons (despite being cheaper as long as nobody has an emergency)- I am past due for my yearly exam, not to mention there are a few health issues that I need to be seen about. I know these will require tests that will cost $$ we really can't afford. So I just have to cross my fingers that everything's more or less a-ok for now. And hope David finds a new job ASAP.
