Valentine's Day was Steak & BJ Day, w/out the BJ. LOL
The day before (Sunday), I ran out to get some groceries. I walked in the main entrance of kroger to see flowers and balloons everywhere. I found myself laughing at all the men buying fairly last-minute gifts for their loved ones, knowing full well some (if not most) of them were panicked over what to get. Everybody wants to make a good impression! I ended up picking out one of those (semi-cheesy) balloons on a stick. Then I found a sweet (but naughty) card, and then the gift I knew would please- a stuffed Snoopy, holding a bouquet of flowers and a heart-shaped box of chocolates. All for David, of course! For Lauren, I bought a Care Bears coloring/activing book, and for Matthew, a Fisher Price board book about numbers.
Matthew loved his book, but Lauren loved it more. David loved his Snoopy and balloon, but Lauren loved it more. Sigh..
On Valentine's Day itself, David made a dinner of jumbo coconut shrimp, Filet Mignon (I think that's what it was? Nice and tender!), baked potato, steamed veggies, and some dark red wine. MMMMM. Oh, and a huge box of chocolates for dessert. And for Alan's benefit, we were too stuffed for "extra" dessert. ;)
Lauren did really well using her potty chair the other day. She used it twice, by herself! No nudging.. she just knew she had to "go", and she "went". Of course very shortly after her last use on the chair, she came to tell me that she went pee-pee on the stairs. Lovely. Oh well. I know it will be hit or miss for a while.
David is planning to take the kids up to his parents' on Saturday. I love my kids, but I could totally use the day to myself. I know I'll probably end up cleaning or doing something very not relaxing, but I have dreams of sorting through baby stuff to send to my sister. And definately taking a nice long nap. I'm thinking I could kill for sleep.
