Ugh, I can tell the seasons are changing. Allergy season! And the last few mornings, I've woken up with the crappiest nose. Nasal drip galore. GRRR. Oddly enough, somebody called here yesterday asking if I suffered from nasal drip. Wants me to buy some oral hygiene pack. Um, ok..
Easter went well. The night before, I put together a cute little basket for each of the kids. Matthew's contained a cuddly rabbit, a truck that makes noise when you press down on the top of it, a shovel and claw thingie, and an Alligator (aligator?) bath toy. Oh, and a Wiggles book about colors. Lauren's had some of the stuff I got from that ebay auction- princess dolls, basically. A cuddly rabbit (who was wearing a bracelet that says Lauren on it), and that's pretty much it- the princess stuff filled the basket enough. We went to David's parents' house, where they got more goodies. I swear- how many parents will make baskets for your kids AND for you? Not many. We got tons of snacks. I'm perfectly ok with that!
Monday was Matthew's 18-month appointment. Matthew still hasn't said anything yet- he "talks" but has yet to speak a single true word. Not "mommy", not "daddy", not "no". Nothing. So this time the doctor gave me a referral for a hearing test. I also have to take him to a lab for a blood test, because his stool has been almost clay colored, for over a month now. She wants to rule out any kind of liver problem. Hopefully it's nothing serious. As it is, my mom's side of the family is concerned Matthew might be heading towards Autism. I'm not thinking that yet- maybe out of denial, or simply for the fact that he just doesn't act like my cousin does at all. But he is nearing the time that it starts to show up, so I guess even if it's not that, seeing if he needs to be looked at by a developmental Pediatrician might be the way to go. Apparently there is a Federal program which gives free help to children up to age 3. Let's hope that's not something we have to deal with. Otherwise, Matthew seems to be a healthy little boy.
