I guess we're more or less settled into the house.. Though my office looks like a bomb hit, and David's does too. And to top it off, we're all sick. (Well, not David.. that lucky bastard).

Not sure if I mentioned this, but Saturday morning, we went over to the apartment for the last time, and cleaned up before turning in our keys. We had also planned to install new blinds in both Matthew's old bedroom, and our own. Both had been pulled down at some point while living there, and we knew it would probably cost up the ass to let the apartment complex charge us upon move out.. so we bought them ourselves. The morning we went to Lowes to pick them up, I had made measurements of the old blinds, to make sure the new ones would work. I actually used a tape measure and everything. David insisted I didn't know what the hell I was doing.. that of course only he knew what size they would be, and so on. He got so worked up, he told me before we got into the store that I could get them myself, as he wasn't going to bother with them anymore. Well, pissed off, I decided to go completely the oppposite way of the blinds, and go look at bug bombs. David picked out 2 sets of blinds, and we were on our way. Well this last Saturday, as I thought David was installing them, he came downstairs and informed me that they were too wide. Uh huh. Now who is the dumbass who didn't know what he was talking about? Who wasted not just $20 on some blinds that don't fit, but now however much money they're going to charge us for replacing them? Yeah.. Not me. Yeah. I do feel a bit snarky about that.

We had planned the Wednesday after closing, to bug bomb the place before steam-cleaning the carpets. Well, David couldn't figure out how to get to the pilot light to turn it off before bombing, so that was out. He decided to forget that, and go straight to the carpets. But we soon learned that the inspection of the gas line (the one that had a leak in it) had meant somebody had to turn off the gas.. and they never turned it back on. So we had no hot water (which ya kind of need to clean the carpets- at least I think you do). The previous owner happend to be outside at the time, clearing out the rest of his crap from the garage. I mentioned to David SEVERAL times to just go out and ask the guy how to turn it on. I mean, the guy had lived here since he was a boy, for crying out loud. He should know. After what seemed like an eternity, David finally went out to ask him. (What the hell is up with men who think they know everything, and when they don't, they can't ask for help????? What the hell is so hard about ASKING every once in a while?!?!?! Sorry.. just had to get that out). Well, once that was taken care of (and David got a bit of homeowner know-how under his belt), we were on our way to cleaner carpeting.

Saturday, David's family moved us in. It only took 2 trips with a 10' U-haul truck, but I can't even count the number of times David made trips with the car for smaller stuff. Thank God we're moved out of that damn place!!

Things we have replaced so far: Kitchen sink faucet and the shower head in the bathroom. What seems to be next.. well, we probably can't afford to replace it right now, but there is something up with our water heater. Like, hot water runs out very quickly. It blows. I finally got myself a hot bath the other night, by first turning on only the hot water. That ran out after about 3" in the tub, and then I mixed in some cold water til it was just bearable enough for me to jump in. I really gotta find out what the hell is up with the water heater, though. I don't think it's that old.. somebody mentioned something to me about air being trapped in it, not letting it fill up all the way. I need to look online and get some tips or something. I need to have a nice hot bath now and then!
