CNN.com - Bush, Congress clash over ports sale - Feb 21, 2006
I'm not the most skilled when it comes to the issue of politics. And I don't want to seem like I am racist or anti-Arab or anything of that nature. But for all the money we're spending on terrorism, Bush is going to veto any bill in congress, attempting to keep this UAE company from controlling our ports?
"I don't understand why it's OK for a British company to operate our ports but not a company from the Middle East when we've already determined security is not an issue," Bush told reporters aboard Air Force One after Frist urged the administration to block the deal."
Ok.. maybe it's just me. Maybe it's just the timing of this seems all wrong. But there are members of the Arab world who will no doubt try to use this as a way to do more damage to our country. Sure, I suppose that could happen no matter who controls these ports, but these are major gateways into the United States. And how many countries in the UAE are harboring terrorists?
"Critics say the takeover raises security concerns, noting that two of the hijackers in the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington came from the UAE and that the hijackers drew funds from bank accounts in Dubai, the financial center of the Persian Gulf."
You don't think this won't bring more of them here? I honestly feel like Bush will be aiding and abetting any potential act of terror on this country (which might stem directly or indirectly from the takeover), should this be allowed to happen.
This is the scariest man who has ever been in power.. most certainly in this country.
