Kids. A gift from God, sure. But a pain in the ass as well.
Yesterday, we took Lauren to the doctor because she's been sick for the last two weeks. At the end of the visit, the doc (not L's usual pediatrician) asked if Lauren could give a urine sample. We said sure, and headed off to the bathroom. Well, we sat there for what seemed like forever, and nothing happened. I thought maybe she might, since she hadn't gone in a while. The dr said we could take the container home and try there, and then we'd just bring it back sometime before they closed. Well, I swear to God. That kid would not pee for hours! Certainly not before their officed closed. She kept running over to me saying "my bladder has to pee!", but it was like something about that cup kept her from going. I was getting really irritated with her, to say the least. It's not like she typically has stage fright- hell, half the time she invites me into the bathroom with her. But she just wouldn't/couldn't go.
Meanwhile, the doc had no clue what was wrong with Lauren, but said that she wasn't developing pneumonia. Also, she would not be prescribing antibiotics. She didn't exactly suggest anything to help the poor kid's symptoms, either. The only advice she had was regarding the diarrhea. Yeah ok.. Already know about the BRAT diet. Thanks. Damn newbies.
