Regarding the whole Imus debacle.. Sure, what he said was stupid. It was wrong. And no doubt there are a lot of white people who probably don't even get why the term "nappy-headed" is so offensive. (I don't "get it" as much my mom and her younger sister would, since they were probably called this as children). He fucked up, but he admitted it. He apologized- not just to his tv viewers and radio listeners, but most importantly, to the young women he hurt and offended. I don't see what more he needs to do. He doesn't need to be kissing Al Sharpton's ass, nor Jesse Jackson's, nor anybody else's in the black community. Those two are probably more racists than a lot of people I could think of. (But as long as it's a black person being racist, it's all good, right? Hell, Snoop Dogg came out yesterday and basically said as much).
I think this has been blown WAY the hell out of proportion here. But as Joe Scarborough said on his program the other night, who cares if MSNBC and CBS fired him? He could still probably get a job anywhere else- maybe even XM at some point- and make millions.
