Being an apartment manager, I have to be honest- people who can't pay rent really piss me off.

The tenants in 108 have lived here for nearly 11 months now (the manager across the street moved them in when I was on 2-week Maternity Leave). Just about 1/2 that many months, the tenants have been late with rent. Back in January, I even had to start eviction proceedings.. although it was cancelled because they paid rent just after I faxed all the papers in to the attorney. Stupid idiots.. had to pay their rent, another $25 on top of that for being late, and then another $125 for the court fees (it would have been more had the eviction actually gone thru). They can't pay the $825 a month as it is.

Why they moved in here is beyond me. It's a young couple, and the guy's parents and brothers. Only 2 people are supposed to be living there. They have 2 cats living there w/out permission. They broke a window in December, and they never got it fixed because they can't afford it. Apparently no one works but the dad and the girlfriend- the dad gives them money, but not enough to pay rent. The chick barely makes enough to survive.. it's a sad, sad situation. To make matters worse, their rent is going up to $865 on May 1st. I bet you they're going to ditch, cuz they haven't given notice and I know they can't afford to live there.

What pisses me off most is that the stupid manager across the street gives me these fuckers to deal with. I am well aware of what it's like not to be able to afford rent. Hell, I know I couldn't live here. But if you know you can't afford a place, why freakin' bother living there? It just amazes me.. there are places way bigger (and cheaper) than this crap hole.
