Holy goodness, was this weekend INSANE.

We got so much snow (which most places weren't prepared for, much less our f'ing city), that David didn't go in to work on Thursday. We had maybe 6-8" of snow that morning, though I couldn't accurately measure it because there was at least an inch of ice at the top of it- it's still there (it's only 12 degrees out right now, so it's not going away any time soon). SO early Thursday, we had a Level 2 alert, meaning only drive if you absolutely have to. David called into work up until about 9 am, getting nobody. They finally called him around 9:30 and asked him to try to come in. He left the apartment at 10:30, and it took him a half hour just to get out of the parking spot (including time to de-ice the car). Then another half hour or so to get out of our complex (which looks horrid- how anybody can drive it is beyond me). He then took another two hours just to get halfway to work. The freeway was an ice rink. He gave up and came back home.

Friday night, sometime after going to bed, our electricity went out. I had just given up a prayer of thanks that we were one of the ones who hadn't lost power. LOL Spoken too soon. We had worried that it would be too trecherous to make the trek up north to his parents' house, but after opening presents in candle light, and in 50 degree temps, he was like "Get the kids ready. We're getting the hell out of here!". Let me just say- opening gifts while your toes are near freezing (and you can even see your breath) just isn't a bit of fun. But then again, I still think we had it easy compared to some. And we had our power back on by the afternoon. So we came back home to a nice, warm apartment.

The day at the in-law's was enjoyable, and everybody was pleased with their gifts (although my FIL's didn't actually arrive til yesterday morning, because FedEx- who had this item sitting not 20 minutes away from us for 3 days!!- didn't want to brave the roads to deliver it by Christmas. Oh well. So we left around 6:30 pm to come back home. As usual, we missed our turn-off (or should I say this time we thought we missed it, but actually turned back too soon). Then we realized after we wasted 40 minutes finding the damn "15", that David had left his jacket at his parent's house, which had his security clearance badge for work. LOL Oh man. (We were going to have them overnight his badge and then somehow get the jacket later, but they were nice enough to drive down about halfway from their house, so David could meet them and get everything).

All's great, but the pipe leaking in the basement. Oh man.. yesterday before David left to meet his parents, he pointed out a little birdie that froze out in the snow. OMG. I was kind of pissed that I saw it, because I felt so bad. I don't know if it was looking for food, or what. And there's a bird's nest just above, so I don't know if there are any frozen birdies in there or what. But I couldn't stand to see it there, so I took an old baby wipes container and put it inside.

As for gifts, hee hee! Well, we all got lots of wonderful things. But I'm really tripped out that David bought me an HP Photsmart 325 photo printer!! It's awesome!! (And because I'm a nice wife, I got David - among other things - the Star Wars trilogy on DVD).
