Swiped from Athena:

a year in review: 2004
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

Got a piercing in a naughty place. :)

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn't keep any because I didn't make any. If I make any for 2005 (and decide I'm going to stick with them) it will be to save money, and excercise.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. Though sadly, one of my favorite cousins had a miscarriage the weekend of my sister's wedding.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My dad died in April.

5. What countries did you visit?
None, though I hope to visit Canada in 2005, now that I'm practically hours away!

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?

A savings account. Zero Debt. A life insurance policy.

7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 16th- my dad's death.
August 18th- my 30th birthday.
October 30th- my sister's wedding.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
That's tough. I think getting myself on an airplane again was a big one. That, and traveling with a 7 month old across country. Being apart from my children for nearly a week, to visit my dad (being apart from my kiddos was tough). Having the frame of mind to speak at my dad's memorial.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Every time I lost my temper with my kids and with David. Not taking better care of myself, either physically or emotionally.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious, thank goodness!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Honestly, the plane tickets to see my dad before he died.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Well, I have to give it to my sister, my mother and step-dad for the way they all cared for my dad when he was sick. Oh, and David- he took care of both kids for the time I was visiting home. That, and he's still here. LOL

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Some of my dad's family members, but I won't go there. I will say that President Bush's behavior continues to depress me. Oh well. Only 4 more years!

14. Where did most of your money go?
Now *this* is depressing. I'd like to know that myself.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My Joe Elliott birthday cake!!!

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I'm not really sure.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner (I was pregnant most of '03)
c) richer or poorer? Neither.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Walk, read, drink water.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Go online, worry, get angry.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We spent Christmas with David's family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Even better, I stayed in love.

22. How many one-night stands?

Absolutely zero!

23. What was your favorite TV program?

The Apprentice, The L Word.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope. If I hated anyone, I'd probably still hate them. But it's not nice to hate, and so I'll just say that don't hate anyone. Now disliking immensley is a different story. LOL

25. What was the best book you read?
I don't get a chance to read much anymore. But I'm hoping to change that this coming year, since I have a few new books to read. ;)

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

This year, I didn't spend a whole lot of time appreciating new music. I could hardly bring myself to appreciate the "old" stuff.

27. What did you want and get?

A photo printer. WOO HOO!! And my own pet from Build-A-Bear!

28. What did you want and not get?
It's a totally girlie "gift", and I think it's one of those "too much information" items. LOL No, it's not a sex toy.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
We watched "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", and thought that was pretty cute. Actually pretty funny, I gotta say. And a certain hot guy was in it, too. And I do think Kate Hudson is pretty.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
This year I turned 30. My sister-in-law (and the rest of David's family) surprised me with a party. It was a Def Leppard theme! And I got some great gifts!!

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I think having gotten to attend my sister's wedding would have made me happy. I know she understands that money was tight, but still. We'd all like to think we're going to marry once in our lives, and this was her big day. And with our dad gone, it made it even more important to me that I should be there for her.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Not to advertise, but I dressed mostly in G@P products. Cute, but cheap. (I prefer the clearance racks LOL)

33. What kept you sane?
Prescription drugs did for a while, then I decided I didn't need them. So far, I've been right.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Well, I'll have to say Ray Parker, JR. (the guy who sings Ghostbusters) He is very down to earth, a gentleman, and easy to be around. I only know that because I saw him again, at my cousin's birthday party. Of course he's not bad on the eyes, either. :)

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The war in Iraq, mostly.

36. Who did you miss?
My family. My sister and nephew.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I don't meet many new people.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.
Watch what you wish for. It might come true.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favorite song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing
Spending the hours reminiscing"

LITTLE RIVER BAND lyrics - "Reminiscing"
