I have been waiting forever for Blogger to publish. GRRR.
Last week, we had a service coordinator from the Help Me Grow program come out, to get us started- mostly we just filled out paperwork. On the 18th, a woman is coming out to do a full evaluation on Matthew- not just for speech delay, but in all areas of development. Based on her findings (which at the very least I suspect is the speech delay), she will send her evaluation to the service coordinator, who will then help me figure out where to send Matthew. We can either have someone come to the house once a month to check up on him, basically giving me the tools to work with him the rest of the month, or we can take him somewhere (I think he said it was "community outreach") let's say 3 times a week. At the age of 2 1/2, there is a transition period.. where his therapy/development becomes the responsibility of the school system, and depending on the level of his development (or lack thereof), he might qualify for "developmentally delayed preschool". So I guess we'll see what happens there.
We're also busy with house hunting. Actually, we found a few houses, and one of them David was stuck on.. one that I was really in love with- both great in their own ways, but lacking in others. The final straw for the one David really liked, was the number of sex offenders in that area. 23 w/in a mile radius is NOT acceptable. Of course I'd prefer none, but the reality is these sick freaks are everywhere. Anyway, two weekends ago (I think it was.. the last few weeks seem like a blur to me), David and I decided to go check out an open house, in the same general area of the house I was totally in love with- beautiful, really. I think the open house showed us a place full of compromises, with regard to space, storage, location, etc.. So we called our real estate agent when we got home and told her we wanted to make an offer. The following evening, we went for it! A counter-offer or two later, we're in a "contract". Tonight is the inspection, and we're crossing our fingers all goes well. If it does, we've got a closing date for Oct 26th. I think I'm a nervous wreck at this point. LOL I'd like the remainder of October to just fly by.
