Anne Frank diary burning sparks outrage in Germany - Yahoo! News.

"BERLIN (Reuters) - The ceremonial burning of the diary of Holocaust victim Anne Frank by far-right extremists in eastern Germany was condemned by the German government on Friday amid calls to intensify efforts to stamp out neo-Nazi activity.

The ministry was reacting to an incident in which three men in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt used a copy of the diary of the Jewish teenager to re-enact the Nazis' infamous incineration of 'un-German' literature in 1933.

According to news reports, one of the men cast the diary into the flames and said: "I commit Anne Frank to the fire," borrowing words used by the Nazis in 1933."

Maybe because I have read Anne's Diary countless times, knew somebody who was in a concentration camp, (and frankly, have a heart & soul!) that I find this completely disgusting. I can't believe there are people in this world who want anything to do with Nazis, anti-Semitism, and just total lack of respect for the tragedy that befell millions of people.

Maybe I'm no better then they are for what I'm about to type, but these are the fucktards we need to put into a room and blow the hell out of.

By the way. If you've ever read the Diary of Anne Frank, I highly suggest getting Anne Frank: Beyond the Diary. I actually read it about 3 weeks ago. It is a companion to the Diary, which includes quotes from Anne's story, pictures and tidbits from her life before the Secret Annex, and also includes some background on her parents and sister. It's a great book, easy to read, and just as touching as the Diary.
