Lauren had her first dental appointment ever, on Thursday. I was not at all thrilled with the location of this place (remind me to give David's work a "rash" for the choices they gave us)- kinda like a county clinic, if you get my drift. And we were probably one of the few white people in the place. It's always nice to get looked at like you're out of place, ya know? Anyway, it ended up being in a bad part of town, and the inside of the building was really dirty. I was entertained by a centipede while David took Lauren in for her appointment. Despite how crappy the place itself was, the Dental Hygienist was great! The Dentist herself was really nice, but the hygienist was super cool. And she said that Lauren did really good. She wasn't afraid of being there (I did everything I could to teach her about the Dentist and tell her all about what would happen, beforehand. So she wouldn't be nervous). The hygienist also said Lauren had really clean teeth for a kid her age. Of course the dentist had to tell me later she did have some tartar. Oh well.. Oh yeah. Lauren also needs to see an Orthodontist (as I knew would be the case), right now just to maybe give her a night guard for her upper row of teeth. She is still sucking her thumb, and so those teeth are all pulling outward. Her teeth came in funny anyway, so I always figured that she'd probably need braces just like I did.
I also saw the dentist, and was given some prescription mouth rinse for my gum issues. And I was given a list of Periodontists, to see about having some wierd gum tissue looked at and possibly removed. They also found that I have some wierd dark spots inside a few of my teeth, and the dentist had no idea what they were. She kept going on and on about it, too.
Later that afternoon, I finally saw a regular ol' doctor- my first time in years. I had an EKG done, they drew blood, and also tested my blood sugar. I'm also now on Neurontin (or, well, the generic version of it) for Neuropathy. I don't really know a whole lot about it, but I'm on the meds for two weeks before going back in for a follow-up. I think she might take more blood at that point, because I've had some other issues she didn't write bloodwork up for. I think we might possibly start looking into whether or not I have MS like my mom does... or if there's something else going on. But she seemed quite certain in any case, that I do have Neuropathy. If you look at the definition from that link, it seems pretty generalized to me. Those symptoms are found in other diseases as well. Which is why she tested my blood sugar, because she felt that if I were Diabetic, that would explain pretty much everything. But even after having eating Mc Donalds before my appointment, my blood sugar was 108- lower than the average for a non-diabetic person, I believe she said.
Ah joy.
So, I guess nobody cares I was in the White House press room? You suck.
