You know it's a fun evening when you spend most of it in the ER.

Last night, between 7:30-8pm, I was about to take my medicine (Elavil).. suddenly I got that stupid cramping in my left thigh (spasticity in the muscle), and then suddenly everything from my toes to my forehead (on the left side) went numb, and started buzzing. After I started feeling like my breathing was a bit labored (my upper abdomen was spasming off and on as well), I called my Neuro. She told me that it probably wasn't because of my new medication.. but *could* be a stroke. (Although she told me she hated to suggest it, and that I don't personally have a history of strokes). So I went to the ER. Didn't get out of there til 3 am. Of course they had no idea what caused my numbness and tingling ("Paresthesias", as they call it).. could only tell me I'm anemic (blood count of 9) and that I need to take Iron. LOL Sigh. As for the stroke, since the sensation was moving a little bit into the right side of the body, they felt that ruled it out. But the ER doc did suggest he felt it was MS. (I told him I was going to be tested for Lyme, and he thought it was a good idea to cover all my bases). If it's not related to the medication (the rare side effects of this stuff can be nasty), then I sure wonder WTF. I definitely don't like it.
