David and I were able to get out for about 4 hours yesterday. (WOO HOO!!)

Matthew was recently enrolled in the county's Family Resources/Respite program. One of the ladies who watches those who qualify for services, got a cancellation- so the office called and asked if I had anywhere to go for 4 hours on Saturday morning, so we could try out the service. (They can either come here and watch both kids, or I can drop Matthew off at their facility for ... hell, up to a week if need be).

So David and I had a nice date. We went out for breakfast, went to the library, went to Kohls, then grabbed some iced coffee at Caribou Coffee. Then we stopped off at the grocery store to buy some flowers for the respite worker (mostly as a thank you for putting up with our insane kids for that long!). This was our first outing alone in a little over a year, and the first time we've gone out for breakfast (sans kids) since before Lauren was born. It was quite nice!

What wasn't nice, was that about an hour after we got home, we were in Lowes getting some stuff... and I spent most of that time in the ladies room, trying not to die. The regular dr put me on some INSANE dose of iron- something like 350 mgs of the stuff, twice a day. She told me that I would need a stool softener to avoid the inevitable constipation. I took both pills at about 9:30, during breakfast. And it suddenly hit just before we got to Lowes. LOL

Anyway, hopefully every one of you mothers out there (the two or so who read this blog) had a wonderful Mother's Day last weekend. David was sweet and bought me a card with coupons in it- for a free massage, home cooked meal, house work, etc. Then he bought me a patio set- table, chairs, umbrella. Yesterday we went to Lowes with a $10 off $25 coupon, and we used it to get an indoor/outdoor rug to put under the table. Now his family (as well as ourselves) will have a decent place to sit when they come over, and want to hang outside.

Oh.. Alan, you might get a kick out of this. The other day, we were sitting around the kitchen table eating dinner. Matthew sat in my lap, and tried to write a word. I asked him what it said, and he told me it was "bottom". I wrote it correctly for him, and then he proceeded to draw a bottom. Yes.. a butt. It looked much like a B on its side. Or an 8 laying on its side. Then he drew a penis. I knew instantly what it was when I saw it. (He drew several of them, by the way). He then wanted me to write the word "penis". Meanwhile, I'm trying SO hard not to laugh my ass off. And Lauren was saying "Ew! He's drawing a penis!!" I have decided it's bad enough he'll probably draw both at school, and perhaps even write the word "bottom". I don't need to show him just yet how to write "penis". I don't know that his poor teachers could handle that. LOL To be honest, I can barely handle it. :D
