This election is historic, really. I think it's quite likely we could either have the first woman president (not to mention the first president who was married to a former president), or the first Black president. People are so sick and tired of Bush running the country into the ground, that they're shying away from voting Republican- they just. want. CHANGE.
Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing thinks Barack Obama would be assassinated if he became US president.
So it's not just me?
When I found out Obama was running, I thought the same thing. It's sad, but do you honestly think white supremacists would allow him to run the country? The fact he's only half Black means nothing. Couple the color of his skin with his Muslim background (whether he's practicing or not- claims to be or not), and it spells trouble. JFK (who he's been repeatedly compared to) was assassinated. Martin Luther King Jr (a Black man looking for change of his own) was also assassinated. There are plenty of people in this nation willing to use this election- and Obama's possible win- for their own sick agenda. Which is exactly why I've been keeping such a close watch on the primaries/caucuses. I'm curious to guage the responses in the more radical areas, and see how he does.
That said, of course I don't personally wish for this to happen. But the possibility of it happening has crossed my mind.
