Poor tigers. :(

India To Spend $13.15M to Protect Tigers.

"New estimates suggest India's wild tiger population has dropped from nearly 3,600 five years ago to about 1,411, the government-run Tiger Project said last month.

"The number 1,411 should ring the alarm bells ... The tiger is under grave threat," Chidambaram told Parliament during his budget presentation for 2008-2009."

When we go to the Columbus Zoo, there is a special tiger exhibit that shows statues of various tigers from around the world. Some statues are complete, others are not- those which are broken (or have the animal completely missing) represent those species which have gone extinct, or which are endangered. It's amazing to think that such beautiful animals are disappearing so rapidly.
