Back from the Periodontist, where I had Glamour Shots taken of my gums. LOL
Although the Dr. said he usually doesn't diagnose at the first visit, he felt that my case was pretty straight-forward. "Pyogenic Granuloma", a.k.a. "Pregnancy Tumor".
"Pyogenic granuloma is a common, benign growth that often appears as a rapidly growing, bleeding bump on the skin or inside the mouth. It is composed of blood vessels and may occur at the site of minor injury.
When a pyogenic granuloma occurs in a pregnant woman, it is sometimes called a "pregnancy tumor" (granuloma gravidarum). Pyogenic granulomas develop in up to 5% of pregnant women"
The periodontist seems pretty confident that's what it is, based on when it appeared. He took an x-ray and an actual photo of it, in hopes the insurance company will pay for having it removed. (I think the best I can hope for is 40%, but we'll see). He will have it biopsied, just in case. But chances are pretty good it's nothing to worry about.
