Job, Sermon Upset Church Gunman

This might be old news by now, but I just found out a couple of days ago that the church the gunman was affiliated with is a splinter group (of another splinter group- started by the same person) of the church I grew up in. Isn't that not so nice to know! The guy who is head of this particular organization "wrote that events prophesied in the Bible are "beginning to occur with increasing frequency. We are not talking about decades in the future. We are talking about Bible prophecies that will intensify within the next five to 15 years of your life."

This totally reminds me of the fear "the church" put in its members when I was still attending- care of the man who founded it, Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong. And from what I have read, he actually made a few predictions of his own as to when the end time would be. Of course we're all alive and well, so I guess he was off. the sad thing is it didn't much surprise me to find out the guy wasa part of a group distantly affiliated with my old church. What does surprise me is that my mother still attends that same church. And that her husband actually gives mini-sermans for them, and even graduated from their now defunct university.

This LJ entry cracks me up. "Gee whiz. All I said was the world was coming to an end and we're all doomed. I don't know what anybody got upset about." hee hee!

I just read in another article this morning that a woman who heard about the shooting (not sure if she was from LCG), was so distraught- now believing that God could not exist- that she drove her car into the side of a church. Wow. That's just dumb.

If anyone's interested, here's the gunman's website.
