Monday was Matthew's 2-yr appointment. He's doing great - almost as tall as his sister (he's in the 90th percentile for height). Everything looks normal, although his dr finally said it's best not to wait around anymore for a speech evaluation. So she pointed gave me a referral to the "Ohio Help Me Grow" program.
This is a program that tracks the progress of a child's growth until the age of 3. Apparently the initial assessment is free, and then if the child needs therapy of some kind, they set you up with one of their various providers. (This may or may not be covered by insurance) However, they do assign the child (and family) a service coordinator, who comes to the home once a month to see how their various skills are developing, until they are 3 yrs old. I just got off the phone with them. The lady said they fax our Pediatrician a letter, asking what is "wrong" with Matthew, which then has to be signed and faxed back. At that point, they have 2 days to call me with the name of our service coordinator. Then it's just a matter of scheduling the evaluation.
You know what's just strange to me, is that while there are girls who have these types of issues (speech, learning, etc), it is moreso an issue with boys. Even Autism is statistically more prevelant in males.
Little stinker! He just climbed up onto my lap, pinched my boob, gave me a slobbery kiss, then took off. LOL! (Ok.. so he didn't take off. I thought he was going to. Instead, he's scrunching up my face with his hands. Sigh..)
