So.. the last day or so, basically after my last blog entry, I reassembled the potty chair (the bottom half of which had been doubling as a step stool in the bathroom). Immediately, Matthew took interest. If anybody else is going potty, he's right there. He's got his diaper off, and he sits down ready to go. I have only actually seen him pee anywhere near the potty once.. I am not sure it was by any means intentional, but hey. I guess a kid's gotta start somewhere!

Since I'm not a boy, don't have brothers, was not really around boys being potty trained before, David had to explain to me that Matthew's ability to pee standing up will take another year or more. So I guess that means he'll be sitting down like us girls of the house. His potty chair has a little guard you can put on it for boys, to keep stuff inside the potty, only Matthew doesn't like it. So, having seen what David does when he opts to sit instead of stand, I showed Matthew how to push/point? *it* downward, into the potty. I only showed him a handful of times, and now he does it on his own w/out my asking. I'm sure he'll probably forget, and I'll have to remind him.. but for now I'm pretty impressed.

In the meantime, I have to deal with him basically refusing to wear diapers. He already insists on being practically naked during the day (mind you, it's snow weather).. He's going thru diapers a lot faster now, because he barely goes in one and it comes right off.. Maybe this weekend I'll go buy him some "big boy" underwear. I can't believe I'm saying that. My little buddy guy is growing up! :(
