It seems that I need to apologize to all teachers who may have read my little blurb about the two women from Florida and Indiana, both of whom "lost it" in a classroom full of Kindergarteners. I was very upset over these stories - as a mother and a human being- and proceeded to post a MySpace bulletin, which I *rarely* ever do. Just to say "hey.. check out this story, and feel free to share with the school administration, how disturbed you are so that maybe we can keep this from happening again".

I have two people in my friends list who are school teachers. They were the only two people to respond to me about my bulletin, and both (while stating that they found the particular behavior in question to be shameful) were quick to point out that not all teachers are like that, and I need to look at it from the teacher's perspective.

For the record, I *never* implied that all teachers are treating their students in this manner. I never suggested that I don't understand the difficulty of taking care of some of the kids that come through their doors. I also realize there are lots of parents who neglect getting proper treatment for their children's delays, behaviors, etc.. and selfishly decide not to work with the teachers to ensure a safe and healthy environment for both. That's a shame, and I'm sorry for it.

That said, I can't help but be upset at the inference that I'm not giving teachers everywhere the benefit of the doubt. That I need to consider what they're going through. It is understandable that the teachers would be defensive about my bulletin, and quick to point out that they're not like these two women in question. However, it's not about them or anybody else- it's about two particular boys, who have been so wronged.

I'm sorry that I lack the credentials necessary to fully grasp more than that.
