My mom doesn't celebrate Easter or any other holiday aside from Thanksgiving and maybe 4th of July (though she does go to family's house for Christmas). Oh.. she also doesn't celebrate birthdays. But a week or two ago, she sent Lauren a package in the mail, with some onsies, socks, and a package of bunny accessories- pony tail holders, and a long necklace with a plastic water-filled bunny as the pendant. (I'm not sure if she sent it before Easter and Lauren's birthday, just to keep up the appearance that she doesn't celebrate either).

The socks are small, the onsies are huge, and the accessories? First off, Lauren doesn't have enough hair to put in a pony tail. Secondly, it's dangerous to give a kid a necklace (a long rope) to play with, because she could choke or strangle herself with it. Thirdly, what if the bunny broke and Lauren ingested what's inside? (There are no ingredients listed on the package, so I'm not even sure if that's water in there).

When Lauren was born, my mom got her a set of plastic keys- the keys themselves were very narrow and long- totally a choking hazard. WTF???? Who in their right mind buys shit like that for a baby??

I appreciate the thought behind presents, but damn.
