D's been pulled over twice since we've been here in OH. The first time was not 4 miles into the state, when he was speeding. Thankfully the cop let him off with a warning, since we're from CA. Seems CA is one of 4 states that doesn't have a certain pact with OH when it comes to speeding out of state. Had the officer given us a ticket, we would have had to pay for it right there- because they can't guarantee we're going to leave the state and pay when we get home (which makes it a good thing we didn't volunteer we were moving here).
The second time D got pulled over, was maybe his first or second day of work. Apparently there's some un written rule in Columbus that you don't make a u-turn anywhere in the city. It's not in the Ohio driver's handbook (I know, because I've read it), but yet nowhere in Columbus is it allowed- at least according to the officer who let D off with a warning, since we're definately allowed to do it in CA.
Dumb people. They might as well pass out a friggin' Columbus driver's handbook when you move here. In CA, the only time you can't make a u-turn is if you see a sign forbidding you. Apparently that's how it should be in the rest of OH, but Columbus is one of those "special" cities. LOL
